EMPOWERING AT-RISK CHILDREN IN GRASSE, FRANCE
Although France is world-renowned for its scenic charm and culinary richness, far too many disadvantaged children grow up in French culture excluded from the resources to succeed and with a lack of hope for their future.
“Parfums de Vie” means “fragrance of life”.
Parfums de Vie provides a compassionate response to the poverty, exclusion and neglect faced by many disadvantaged children, youth and their families in Grasse, France, the historic perfume capital of the world.

Nicole & Vincent Derieux founded Parfums de Vie in 2008, after moving to Grasse, France and witnessing the poverty and exclusion faced by children in their community. It started from humble beginnings as a weekly kids club in their home.

Aya’s Journey: A New Beginning in a New Land
Aya arrived in France at just 13 years old, her life marked by deep uncertainty. Her family’s situation was extremely precarious—unstable, fragile, and far from the safety and structure most young people need to grow. She barely spoke French and struggled to keep up in school. But then Aya crossed paths with Parfums de Vie—and everything began to change.
Within our community, Aya found what she had never known before: consistent care, a sense of belonging, and unwavering support. She poured herself into her studies, slowly but surely growing in confidence, ability, and hope. Her quiet strength and perseverance were nothing short of remarkable.
By high school, Aya had become such a strong student that she was awarded a scholarship to the Centre International de Valbonne (CIV), the best high school in our region. Surrounded by academic excellence and opportunity, she continued to flourish.
Today, Aya is studying economics at the University of Strasbourg. Though her journey is still marked by challenges, she meets them with resilience and grace. And even now, whenever she returns home during university breaks, she gives back—volunteering her time to support and mentor the younger children at Parfums de Vie. Her life has been transformed, and she’s already helping to transform others.
Aya’s story is just one among many. Last year, we celebrated a historic moment—our very first university graduate, who completed a degree in Neuroscience with honors from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland’s top university.
Today, nine students who have grown up within Parfums de Vie are pursuing degrees at leading universities across Europe—including La Sapienza in Rome, the University of Strasbourg, and institutions in Nice and Cannes. These young people are living proof that with love, opportunity, and faith, a different future is possible.

Your Impact: Meet Momo
When Momo first came to Parfums de Vie, he suffered sleeplessness and night terrors as a result of the trauma of his early childhood. Since coming to Parfums de Vie, Momo has found a safe place to learn, grow, and be accepted. We’ve witnessed such a transformation in his emotional well-being and he is now able to befriend and encourage other kids who have experienced trauma.
Like Momo, so many of the children we serve at Parfums de Vie go to bed at night with more worries and fears than they should have to carry at their age.
Having a peaceful and loving environment they look forward to going to each day, with supportive friendships and kind adults provides the ability to heal from the trauma they’ve experienced.
